FORM

In October 2022, my sister and I were invited to perform at the FORM Gallery & Café in Claremont — a non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering creative thinking, learning, and community wellbeing across Western Australia. This particular event was held to raise funds for the construction of a shelter over the café’s outdoor area, aiming to create a more comfortable, weather-resistant space that would encourage people to gather and connect, rain or shine.

The performance was intimate and meaningful — a small lineup of three acts brought together to entertain guests and encourage donations for the cause. As strong supporters of FORM’s mission to build a vibrant, creative economy, my sister and I were excited to contribute.

In the weeks leading up to the performance, we spent time experimenting with different arrangements and sonic textures, incorporating elements we hadn’t previously explored, like live looping and hand percussion. It was also one of the best collaborative processes we’d had — we found ourselves aligned in both vision and vibe for the set.

Our final set list included:

  • Put Your Records On – Corinne Bailey Rae

  • An original composition (by myself)

  • Viva La Vida / As It Was mashup – Coldplay & Harry Styles

The atmosphere on the night was truly special. It was one of those warm spring evenings that felt effortlessly magical. We stepped up and performed what we had worked on — and the response from the audience was overwhelmingly positive. The connection between us, the music, and the crowd made it an unforgettable experience.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this event — not only for the chance to perform in such a unique and inspiring space, but also to contribute to a cause that supports creativity and community in Western Australia.
